    The MSE Program strives to meet the needs of highly talented students wishing to pursue an accelerated curriculum with emphasis on mathematics, science, and engineering.

    About the MSE Program

    The MSE program is designed to meet the needs of highly talented students wishing to pursue an accelerated curriculum with emphasis on mathematics, science, and engineering. MSE graduates typically earn between one and two years of college credit. Advanced Placement(AP) Precalculus,  AP Calculus, AP Physics I, AP Physics II, and AP Physics C are some of the required courses for the MSE program. Dual enrollment courses offered at Suncoast High School are also required. The following are some of the required dual enrollment courses: Calculus II, Calculus III, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra. Students will conduct scientific research and take introductory courses in mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering. MSE students will be given the opportunity to add the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme to their program beginning their junior year.  

    Entering grade 9 students applying to the MSE program MUST meet the following criteria:

    • 3.0 unweighted academic GPA
    • Completion of Algebra 1 Honors with an unweighted 3.0 GPA in the course
    • Completion of Geometry Honors with an unweighted 3.0 GPA in the course
    • Completion of Algebra 2 Honors with an unweighted 3.0 GPA in the course
    • Proof of enrollment and/or completion of Algebra 1 Honors ,Geometry Honors, and Algebra 2 Honors  MUST be submitted with the application.
    • Algebra 1 Honors, Geometry Honors, and Algebra 2 Honors must be completed by June 9, 2025.
    • Verification of completion of Algebra 1 Honors, Geometry Honors, and Algebra 2 Honors must be submitted via email to Heather Cleary by June 9, 2025.  No exceptions.

    MSE students are REQUIRED to complete the following 4-year plan:
