  • Purpose and Mission:

    The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Department at John F. Kennedy Middle School is dedicated to addressing the language and academic needs of our diverse student population of English Language Learners (ELLs). Our mission is to ensure the academic success of ELLs through the following key initiatives:

    • Compliance: Adhere to District, State, and Federal requirements.
    • Professional Development: Offer training and instructional strategies tailored to the unique needs of ELLs.
    • Support Services: Provide bilingual and bicultural counseling and social services to address the social, emotional, and academic needs of ELL students.
    • Instructional Resources: Supply language-related instructional materials that are aligned with standards and designed to support ELLs.
    • Advocacy: Champion equitable educational opportunities for all students across schools.
    • Parent Engagement: Facilitate opportunities for parental involvement to enhance engagement.
    • Family Support: Assist families with student registration processes.
    • Translation and Interpretation: Offer translation and interpretation services for students and their families
