Art
Mr. Bennett
Art includes many diverse areas ranging from producing expressive art objects to using materials and media sources. Art is not only a way of expressing ideas with materials, but is also a way of looking at life and people. Art in the elementary school is both a body of knowledge and a series of activities. Fundamentally, learning in art has five major aspects or components.

Physical Education
Physical Education – Coach Roche & Coach Surtain
mark.roche@palmbeachschools.org alcede.surtain@palmbeachschools.org
Physical Education classes today are no longer the same classes we took in school. The main factors contributing to this change are a major increase in sedentary lifestyles and the epidemic rate of childhood obesity. Therefore, we have based our Physical Education program on these concerns in accordance with the Next Generation Standards of Physical Education.
A typical day in P.E. is as follows: students start warm up activities with a 5 minute run or alternative warm up game that enhances cardiovascular endurance, as well as functional muscle stretches and movements improving muscular strength and flexibility. Warm ups are followed by a drink and students sitting in their assigned exercise spot. After warm ups, skill sets are taught at the beginning of class and students practice those skills through participating in activities such as dribbling and shooting basketballs (Basketball unit), dribbling and shooting soccer balls (Soccer unit), strength, balance and team work (Volleyball, Omnikin Ball and Scooter units), throwing, catching, striking and problem solving (T-Ball, Football, Golf, and Kickball units), agility and strength (Color Capture & Alternative Units) and fitness (Aerobics, Circuit Training Unit, Fitness Room, GoNoodle.com and Adventuretofitness.com and Presidential Fitness Testing). Archery for grades 4th & 5th will be offered as a club after school. Special events held for physical education class: Bike Safety, Jump Rope For Heart, Walk To School Day, and Dolphin Jr. Training Camp. The main goal of the P.E. Department is to help make your children as healthy as possible while battling childhood obesity and promoting life-long fitness.
