ELA
English Language Arts (ELA) at Seminole Trails is a standards based curriculum that incorporates many different modalities for instruction to make reading and writing fun and interesting for our students. We include in our day to day instruction and encourage our students to seek out stories and texts that capture their interests as well as introduce them to new ideas and subjects they may not have thought of before. We tailor our instruction to meet the standards set forth by our Department of Education, but we also individualize instruction to meet the needs of our STES learners.

Math
The School District of Palm Beach County's Elementary Mathematics Team is committed to excellence in mathematics education through the use of activities and learning experiences, to prepare our students with the foundational skills necessary for productive employment and life. Instruction is designed to give all students the opportunity to show mastery and progress towards mastery of the Math Florida State Standards. Students receive whole group instruction where through Number Talks and collaborative activities like Turn and Talks. Students then receive more individualized activities and assignments with manipulative materials. Note-taking strategies are taught to help students retain skills and information learned during math instruction. Real world applications are provided to help students with skills. Student progress is assessed through teacher observations, performance tasks, and formal written assessments.
Accelerated Math Program (AMP)
Seminole Trails Elementary offers an Accelerated Math Program, AMP, to third and students who met the eligibility criteria. Students who have demonstrated an exceptional math ability are provided with a fast track to math success. In AMP, students can work on their skill level rather than their grade level. The instruction is personalized to meet the AMP students’ needs. In third grade AMP, the instruction includes all of grade Math Florida Standards and half of grade Math Florida Standards. Fourth grade AMP includes the other half of the fourth grade Math Florida Standards and all of the Math Florida standards for fifth grade. Students who are successful in AMP in fourth grade and continue to meet eligibility criteria will be offered AMP in fifth grade. This pathway leads to a Grade 6 Advanced Mathematics placement in fifth grade.

Science
Science instruction is part of daily instruction at Seminole Trails. To integrate the Nature of Science standards, the science Big Ideas are consistently fused with content units as appropriate throughout the year. It is critical that students understand how to integrate these concepts and that these practices of science are not stand-alone.
The content covered in Grades K-2 lays the foundational framework for future study and is crucial to success in Grades 3-5. In addition, science instruction at this age encourages students to think creatively, ask questions, and wonder.
Students in intermediate grades prepare for the Grade 5 Statewide Science Assessment and the content lays the foundational framework for future study. Science instruction utilizing the 5E and/or inquiry-based modes of instruction encourage independent critical thinking and real-world applications of science.
Seminole Trails students enjoy opportunities to participate in activities that integrate science, technology, engineering math. Students and classes participate collaboratively to solve problems or compete in explorations on schoolwide STEM Days. Their work is showcased at the annual STEM Night and through participation in the school and District Science, Math, and STEM Fair.
