• Appropriate attire and grooming are essential to maintaining an orderly and productive learning environment. Our dress code policy applies to all school-related activities. The administration will communicate any permanent or temporary change to the dress code in writing.

    Dress Code Overview

    • Tops must be polo style or sweatshirts (with polo underneath) and may be any solid color with or without buttons. They may be short or long-sleeved. Approved Lake Shore Middle t-shirts are also permitted.
    • Bottoms must be DOCKER style pants, knee-length shorts/skorts, or capris. They may be khaki, black, gray, or navy blue in color.
    • Footwear must be closed-toe shoes or sneakers (No Crocs).
    • Backpacks must be mesh or clear, so the contents are visible. This includes smaller versions of backpacks.
    • Hoods, Hoodies, Hats, & Head Coverings of any kind are prohibited. 
    • Universal Identification Badges must be worn/visible at all times with a lanyard around the neck. The school will provide a free badge and lanyard during the first few days of school.

    Dress Code Clarifications

    Regarding TOPS:

    • Shirts may not have any writing or designs (except Lake Shore Middle School t-shirts).
    • Logos must be on the front in the top left or right corner and be less than 3x3 inches in size.
    • Logos may not appear on sleeves or on the back of the shirt.
    • Shirts must completely cover the underarms, abdomen, back, shoulders, midriff, and chest at all times while sitting or standing.
    • Approved refers to a t-shirt purchased from or provided by Lake Shore Middle School.
    • Undergarments must be covered at all times, and they may not be visible through outer clothing.

    Regarding BOTTOMS:

    • Pants may not contain oversized pockets or cargo pockets.
    • Bottoms must fit properly and be worn at the natural waist.
    • Shorts, skorts, and skirts must be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee.
    • No jeans, leggings, or jeggings are permitted.

    Regarding OUTER GARMENTS:

    • Students may wear a jacket with a zipper.
    • No writing or designs are allowed.
    • Logos must be at the upper left or right corner and be less than 3x3 inches in size.
    • Hoods, hats, and other head coverings are not allowed to be worn on students’ heads. A student’s face must be clearly visible at all times. Face masks, when worn, may only cover the nose, mouth, and chin.
