Is dual enrollment right for everyone?
Dual Enrollment is an opportunity to take challenging courses and accelerate educational opportunities. However, the amount of work necessary to succeed in college level courses may be much greater than in high school courses. Courses are also presented on an adult level which may require mature understanding of divergent viewpoints. Dual enrollment courses begin the student's permanent college transcript and will impact future eligibility for financial aid and admission to other postsecondary institutions or degree programs. Students need to consider future plans when deciding if dual enrollment is right for them. As a dual enrollment student, you can begin taking college classes in high school and earn a two-year college degree by the time you graduate or soon after. The courses you take count toward both your high school diploma and your college requirements. There are two options for you to pursue. In most cases, tuition and books are free. This checklist may be used to gain an understanding of how a student's passing AICE &/ AP Scores may transfer over to college credit.
