School Procedures

  • Tardies & Attendance

    Students are tardy if they are outside the classroom door when the bell stops ringing and are considered absent if not in class for half the class period.

    Late to School Tardy Consequence (per quarter)

    • Tardies #1-5 will result in a warning recorded in Student Conductor.
    • Tardies #6-14 will result in a lunch detention(s).
    • Tardies #15 and beyond after school detention or additional disciplinary consequences.

    During the Day Tardy Consequence (per quarter)

    • Tardies #1-5 will result in a warning recorded in the Student Conductor.
    • Tardies #6-8 will result in lunch detention(s)
    • Tardies #9 and beyond will result in after school detention or additional disciplinary consequences.

    Attendance

    • Lack of consistent attendance negatively impacts the learning process.
    • Make-up work is assigned to cover what was missed but will never have the same impact as the full and original lesson or discussion.

    Excessive tardies will result in loss of school privileges such as parking and participation in athletics and special events.


    Sign-In / Out

    Sign-In

    • Students arriving after the start of the school day must sign-in at Student Services in order to receive a pass to class.
    • Doctor’s notes and/or court documentation is necessary for an excused pass.

    Sign-Out
    Early dismissal notes must be presented to Student Services before school begins.

    • Notes must contain student name, student number, date, time, reason, parent/guardian contact information, signature, and method of departure.
    • Students must present their PBGHS early dismissal pass to be released from class.
    • Students then proceed to Student Services, sign out on the dismissal log, and have their passes stamped.
    • Parents/guardians must meet their child in the Front Office to be signed-out prior to release.
    • Students cannot be signed out of school after 2:00 p.m.
    • Students with a parking permit, an 18-year old affidavit on file, or documentation authorizing the student to walk home will be permitted to leave from Student Services once parent notification has been confirmed.

    We Do NOT accept restaurant deliveries for student lunches.


    Cell Phones

    Cell Phones & Headphones should not be seen, heard, or used during instructional time.

    • 1st Offense - Request to put device away.
    • 2nd Offense - Teacher holds device until the end of class.
    • 3rd Offense - Administration notified.

    If your phone becomes a disruption during class time, the device may be confiscated & turned into Student Services for parent/guardian pick-up.

    Taking photos and videos in classrooms is not permitted.

    PALM BEACH GARDENS HIGH SCHOOL IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS

    Locker rooms and unattended backpacks are easy targets for potential theft on campus. Students are urged to secure their phones and electronic devices in lockers during PE or extracurricular activities.
