  • Morning News – WNGK-8 Morning News

    • What is the club and its purpose? WNGK-8 Morning News, to share the news for the day with our school community
    • Who can join the club? 5th graders
    • When does the club meet? Daily from 7:35am to 8:00am
    • How many days per week does the club meet? 5
    • Is the club for specific grades? 5th graders
    • Are there any special requirements to join the club? Be an outgoing fifth grader with an interest in broadcast journalism and communication

    Battle of the Books

    • Battle of the Books is a competition in which students compete against each other using their understanding of the selected books. In the past year, over 600 teams and 2700 students competed for 1st place in each category. The purpose of the competition is to promote literacy in the School District of Palm Beach County.
    • Who can join the club? 3-5th graders
    • When does the club meet?
      • Friday, September 13th 2:15 - 3:30
      • Friday, November 8th 2:15 - 3:30
      • Friday, December 13th 2:15 - 3:30
      • Friday, January 10 2:15 - 3:30
      • Friday, February 21 2:15 - 4:00 (Competition Day)
    • Are there any special requirements to join the club? A commitment to read at least three of the SSYRA books from this year's list

    Fitness Club

    • What is the club and its purpose? The purpose of the club is for students who want to be fit and to learn the benefits of exercise. Student will do exercises like Zumba, Pilates, Taebox and toning. Students will learn about healthy nutrition while having fun. Who can join the club? Middle schoolers (15 spots)
    • When does the club meet? Every Wednesday
    • How many days per week does the club meet? Once a week Is the club for specific grades? Middle School
    • Are there any special requirements to join the club? Willing to be healthy

    Chess Club

    • What is the club and its purpose? The purpose of the club is to learn the game and learn strategies in playing the game of chess. Who can join the club? The club is open to students in grades 2 through 5.
    • When does the club meet? The club meets once a week on Tuesdays after school from 2:15 until 3:00 pm
    • Are there any special requirements to join the club? Students who are interested in joining must write an essay explaining why they want to join the club.

    Music/Band Clubs
    Tiger Choir

    • What is the club and its purpose?
      Tiger Choir is a club that provides a platform for students to refine their vocal abilities, delve into music theory, and participate in various school and community performances.
    • Who can join the club? The club is open to any 3rd,4th, or 5th grade students who exhibit good behavior and who wants to sing and learn music
    • When does the club meet? The club meets once a week, Tuesdays 2:15-3:15.
    • Are there any special requirements to join the club? Special Requirements: There is a $15 charge for first year students for a Choir Shirt.

    Orff Ensemble

    • What is the club and its purpose? Orff Ensemble is a club that provides an opportunity for students to learn music through improvisation, movement, and the use of percussive instruments like the xylophones and bells.
    • Who can join the club? The club is open to any 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade students with exceptional behavior.
    • When does the club meet? The club meets once a week, Thursdays 2:15-3:15.
    • Are there any special requirements to join the club? There is a $15 charge for first year students for an Orff Shirt.

    Tiger Band

    • What is the club and its purpose? Tiger Band is a club that allows students to play instruments as well as learning basic music theory, and participating in various school and community performances
    • Who can join the club? The club is open to any 4th, or 5th grade students with exceptional behavior.
    • When does the club meet? This club meets three time a week. Mondays and Wednesdays 2:20-3:25 Thursdays 2:15-3:15.
    • Are there any special requirements to join the club? Special Requirements: $30 for Band book and Shirt
