Who is allowed to attend HLJ’s VPK? Children who turn 4 years old by September 1, 2025.
What is HLJ’s VPK? The Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program: VPK prepares early learners for success in kindergarten and beyond. VPK helps build a strong foundation for school using educational materials corresponding to various stages in a child's development. The full-day VPK Enrichment program at H.L. Johnson provides a seamless 6-hour day from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A specific number of seats are available for the FREE VPK only (3 hours).
*The School District reserves the right to cancel a class due to funding or enrollment issues.How much does VPK cost? Parent fees for the 6-hour full-day program are approx. $145.00 per week or $120.00 per week with the VPK certificate.
- Parent fees may be paid with a School Readiness (subsidy) voucher
- Optional VPK Aftercare Wraparound is available for two hours (2:00 to 4:00 p.m.)

How do I get onto H.L. Johnson’s VPK Lottery List? Follow these steps:
- Step 1: Obtain a VPK Certificate Online from Florida Early Learning. For information or help, call the Early Learning Coalition at (561) 514-3300.
- Step 2: Place your name on the list for HLJ’s VPK Lottery Waitlist
- Complete our form or call HLJ to complete the form for you (you will need to drop off a copy of the certificate in step 1)
- Step 3: Wait for the VPK Lottery Results in late *March or early April
