The Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (FRLA), a longtime business partner with Palm Beach Gardens Community High, recently provided the school with a generous donation to fund scholarships for Culinary and Hospitality students in the Five Star Magnet program.

The FRLA’s generous gift of $20,000 is just the latest contribution from the organization. Over the years, FRLA has supported different events to assist students at Palm Beach Gardens High as well as throughout the School District, such as the FRLA Student Conference that typically hosts 300 students at the Double Tree Hotel in Palm Beach Gardens.

The FRLA also maintains an education committee composed of members from the Culinary and Tourism industries that raises money for scholarships to benefit Culinary and Hospitality students attending Palm Beach County schools.

Local restaurants and hotels team up with the FRLA to provide workshops where students can learn about careers in the industry. In addition, FRLA hosts a golf tournament and dinner fundraising events to generate scholarship funds for students.

This year’s fundraising event is Eat In For Education on January 20 and 21. Participants can donate $50 or $100 to get a complimentary gourmet takeout dinner for two from one of the 15 participating restaurants. Over the years, FRLAit has provided more than $75,000 in scholarships.
