Dr. Moneek McTier
Glades Instructional Superintendent, Elementary
School District of Palm Beach CountyThrough the power of education, her commitment to personal growth, the support of caring and encouraging people and her strong faith in God, Moneek Scott-McTier has been shaped to pursue her purpose and destiny.
Dr. McTier, a former Teacher, School Counselor, Principal, and now Instructional Superintendent for the Glades Region, certainly understands the importance of quality education accompanied with a support system that encourages continuous growth and personal development. Through her school leadership experiences at Northboro Montessori, Pleasant City Elementary, and Roosevelt Middle School, Dr. McTier has shown a passion and commitment to consistent school transformation, acceleration and excellence. She strongly believes in the power of education as a conduit for change, equality, and an opportunity to enhance the quality of a person’s life. She also values the impact of an effective teacher and has consistently assembled dynamic teams of educators to meet the diverse and challenging needs of the learning communities that she serves.
Dr. McTier and her learning communities have experienced various forms of growth and success. Under her leadership, Northboro Montessori earned several A-ratings and remained a beacon of success for many students and families. At Pleasant City, they consistently progressed from a school grade of D to an A over a period of 3 years. Additionally, in 2013, they were number 2 in the School District for having the most Reading growth and number 3 in the School District for having the most Math growth. In 2014, they continued on the path to excellence and earned the number 1 position in the District for Math growth. At Roosevelt Middle, Dr. McTier and her dedicated team created a culture of high expectations and continued to increase student achievement. More recently, Dr. McTier is extremely proud of the growth of Glades’ Region Elementary Schools. Four of the seven schools improved their 2019 school grade, resulting in no Elementary Differentiated Accountability Schools. This data resulted in a historical moment and a first for the Glades Region since the inception of school grades since 1999.
Her commitment to education and excellence is evident in her vision and daily interactions with her principals, staff, students, parents, and community. She vows that it is essential that instructional leaders remain relevant to the authentic needs of teachers and students by working closely with them in the classroom. She asserts that this interaction enables her to effectively address the various challenges that schools face. Dr. McTier consistently influences school achievement and student learning by customizing initiatives and curriculum to best meet the needs of students and families.
Dr. McTier has been recognized as a State of Florida Title I Distinguished Principal for Closing the Achievement Gap, Administrator of the Year from the School Counseling Association, University of Florida’s Distinguished Educator, a finalist for the National Life Group’s Life Changer Award, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority’s, Inc. 2016 Educator of the Year and most recently, one of Legacy’s 2019 South Florida’s Top Black Educators.
Dr. McTier acknowledges the significance of being a lifelong learner and believes that learning is not only confined to school and textbooks, but includes learning from people, as well as, learning from positive and adverse experiences. She completed her B.S. Degree at the unforgettable Bethune-Cookman College, where the motto is “Enter to Learn Depart to Serve.” She continued her studies at Palm Beach Atlantic College receiving a Masters in Guidance and Counseling and followed with a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership and a Doctor of Education from Nova Southeastern University.
Moneek McTier is proud of her home roots in the “sweet” rural town of Clewiston, Florida and she currently lives in Royal Palm Beach, Florida. She is the proud mother of daughter, Sydney McTier, who proudly attends Florida Agricultural Mechanical University.
