Program Details
The Aspiring Assistant Principals Program is designed for emerging leaders eager to serve in a leadership capacity. It is based on the Florida Principal Leadership Standards and focuses on effective instructional leadership for all student populations. Capitalizing on our Strategic Plan, this program is designed to provide aspiring leaders with complex and relevant experiences to help prepare them to lead our District schools.
Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Currently SDPBC employee
- Minimum of 3 years of classroom teaching experience with your last year in a Palm Beach County non-charter public school.
- Effective or Highly Effective on FY22 and FY23 final evaluations.
- Hold a Professional Teaching Certificate with Educational Leadership from the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) by 08/19/2024.
- Have a recommendation letter with your current leadership role(s) from your current non-charter SDPBC principal/director that will be supervising you during the program.
- Be endorsed by your current non-charter principal’s supervisor/director’s supervisor, who has observed you in your current role.
- Recommended experience in one of the following leadership roles: Equity Team Lead, Department Chair, Team Leader, Grade Level Chair, SAC Chair, led a committee, a School-wide initiative, a grade level initiative, or the School-wide Positive Behavior Support (SwPBS) Committee, Single School Culture Coordinator, ESE/ESOL Coordinator, Academic Coach, School-Based Team (SBT) Facilitator, or Response to Intervention (RtI) Facilitator, etc.

If selected as a potential candidate for the program, your principal/director must agree to:
- Serve as your mentor.
- Provide you with leadership experiences that lend themselves to the assistant principal position.
