Letter from the Superintendent
Dear Palm Beach County Community:
I am pleased to present the School District of Palm Beach County’s strategic plan: Educate, Affirm, Inspire. Our plan is oriented around a set of core beliefs and priority outcomes for our students and employees that will guide our work over the next five years. We have developed specific objectives to be addressed through focused and transformative strategic initiatives. Through this plan, we will reach measurable targets for student success and employee performance.
Over the past 18 months, parents, students, teachers, staff, and community members have provided input about their perceptions and priorities for our school district. We have carefully reviewed this information and thoroughly analyzed data on our past performance to form the framework of Educate, Affirm, Inspire.
Our community seeks academic excellence for all of our students while supporting each student to make continual progress toward their individual aspirations. Students must be the focus of our work and the center for all of our decisions. Now more than ever, we must also be attentive to the mental health and wellness of our students and employees. The past two years have been a time of change for our country, our school district, and our families resulting in stress and loss that cannot be overlooked if we are to embrace a future of innovation, growth, and renewal. Our employees are the drivers of our success, and we must do all we can to ensure they are valued and supported so that in turn, our students have the best possible educational journey.
Our strategic plan to Educate, Affirm, Inspire provides a concrete roadmap for this work. Our implementation of this plan will ensure that we are the best choice for Palm Beach County families and for our employees. Our schools, staff, families, and communities all play a critical role in student success at every age. Join us in making our plan to Educate, Affirm, Inspire come alive in our schools and throughout our community.

Academic Excellence and Growth
We must ensure that all children attain the required skills and knowledge for future success, and each child is continuously growing to fulfill their individual capabilities and aspirations.
Objectives:
1. Ensure all students engage in teaching and learning that results in academic excellence
2. Accelerate student learning using innovative and differentiated approaches
3. Improve equitable participation in programs and resources
Initiatives:
A.1a - Ensure consistent and effective literacy instruction in every PreK-3rd grade classroom
A.1b - Strengthen career pathway opportunities and coordinate choice programs to ensure all students identify, understand, and prepare for careers aligned to their interests
A.2a - Implement innovative learning approaches including acceleration options in all four core subjects, project-based learning, and authentic assessment
A.3a - Define the essential characteristics of the future Palm Beach Schools graduate in collaboration with our community, and align learning opportunities for all students -
Student-Focused Culture
Our district exists to serve students and families. Effectively responding to their needs is central to our decisions and our actions. The key to this is understanding and valuing their perceptions, and creating systems centered on their success.
Objectives:
1. Increase student voice and choice in educational experiences
2. Increase family engagement in supporting student success
Initiatives:
B.1a - Establish formal structures for students to influence decisions at each school and the District
B.2a - Create a tailored hub to help students and families navigate District processes to achieve their educational goals -
Mental Health and Wellness
It’s our responsibility to acknowledge and support student emotional, behavioral, mental, and physical wellness. Our employees are the engine of our school district and we must also support their overall wellness so that they can be fully engaged in supporting our students and families.
Objectives:
1. Enhance a sense of belonging, safety, and acceptance for all students
2. Increase comprehensive support for student and employee well-being
Initiatives:
C.1a - Implement a District-wide system to ensure every student has a positive relationship with at least one adult at school and is recognized for their achievements
C.2a - Coordinate systems to assess needs for mental health and well-being, align resources, and deliver the intervention/support for those needs
C.2b - Implement practices to recognize and better support students who have experienced trauma in their lives
C.2c - Expand mental health and wellness peer support programs available to employees -
Committed and Impactful Employees
We must invest in our employees’ continued growth and cultivate systems that make the School District of Palm Beach County our employees’ best choice. In turn, we can then provide the excellent service that makes us the best choice for Palm Beach families.
Objectives:
1. Ensure all employees have the environment, support, skills, and resources for excellence
2. Ensure all employees are committed to effective practices and performance expectations centered on students
Initiatives:
D.1a - Create employee-designed approaches to improve job satisfaction, loyalty, and retention
D.1b - Evaluate the alignment of job descriptions and actual role responsibilities, and adjust as needed to foster employee success and effective/efficient use of resources
D.1c - Empower staff and students to integrate artificial intelligence to enhance learning, increase efficiency, and inspire innovation
D.2a - Create a culture of customer service excellence among employees
