FY23 End-of-Year Dashboard

About the Dashboards

  • Page 1 of the dashboard displays attendance data including total absence rates and percentages of students with 5 or more absences. Total absences were calculated as the sum of unverified absences, excused absences, out-of-school suspension absences, religious absences, and unexcused absences. The District has defined chronic absenteeism as missing 11 or more days in a school year. At mid-year, absence counts equal to and exceeding 5 days were calculated as a leading indicator of full year attendance patterns.

Page 2 of the dashboard displays disciplinary incident data including the number of incidents and percentage of incidents by incident level. Discipline referral incidents are classified as level 1, level 2, level 3, or level 4 infractions and incident levels increase in severity as they progress from level 1 to level 4. Definitions of behaviors and appropriate actions for each level are provided in the Student Code of Conduct. Specific incident codes, including incident codes rising to the School Environmental Safety Incident Reporting (SESIR) level, are provided in the “Quick Glance Incident Codes” sheet available on the Department of Safe Schools SharePoint.

Page 3 of the dashboard displays disciplinary action data including the percentages of incidents resulting in in-school suspension (ISS) or out-of-school suspension (OSS), subgroup breakdowns of the students who received OSS, and school-level ISS and OSS rates.

School-Level Data is available for all three pages. For attendance, school level data is available by students’ active school. In this case, data follows the student to where they were actively enrolled at the end of semester 1 regardless of which school the student was attending when the absence took place. For the disciplinary incidents and disciplinary actions pages, school level data is available by students’ active school and by the school where the incident was reported.
