  • The Theatre Academy at Boynton Beach Community High School strives to enable students to develop fundamental skills in the collaborative art of theatre by providing a curriculum designed for students to learn and master the varied approaches and techniques that are utilized in the theatre profession. In the state of the art Black Box Theatre, the students are engaged in learning artistic discipline & audience etiquette, acting and characterization, movement and vocal production, pantomime and improvisation, script elements and playwriting, theatre history and influences, technical theatre & design, theatre production, roles and careers in the Theatre Arts.

    BBCHS Theater Audition Guidelines

    Please review the following guidelines for auditioning for the Boynton Beach Community High School Theatre Academy.

    Part One: Prepared Monologue

    The first part of the audition consists of each auditioner presenting a one-minute monologue from a play OR a one-minute story to a pannel.

    Evaluation will be based on:

    • Volume
    • Character Development
    • Delivery/Diction
    • Movement/Control of body
    • Focus
    • Taking Direction

    Part two: Interview

    There will be a brief interview process designed to get to know the student and where their interests in theater lie.

    Interview questions:

    • Why theatre?
    • What have you done in theatre?
    • What would you like to focus on in theater (performance/tech)?
    • Do you sing? What is your range?
    • Do you dance? What has your training been in? How many years?
