Alternative Certification Programs are for current teachers and career-change professionals who hold a bachelor's or higher degree, but did not graduate from a college of education. These programs are pathways to obtain a professional certificate outside the traditional method of taking courses.
Current Teachers - Professional Learning Certification Program (PLCP)
The School District of Palm Beach County offers a rigorous program that offers teacher education preparation via online learning, mentor support, FTCE test preparation assistance, and face-to-face sessions. Palm Beach State College offers a State-Approved program that can be completed in as few as 2-3 semesters. For more information regarding the program, please visit the EPI website.Current or Aspiring Teachers - Teacher-Selected University Coursework
Teachers may also opt to complete required coursework through another accredited institution that has a college of education program.
The Military Veterans Certification Pathway is an opportunity for qualified veteran candidates who have not yet earned their bachelor's degree to obtain a 5-year temporary teaching certificate through the Florida Department of Education.
