All students are required to have 20 hours of Community Service in order to graduate. Many scholarships including Florida Bright Futures often require more than 75 hours!
Community service is defined as non-paid volunteer work with a non-profit agency.
The following are examples that would count as community service:
Service with a non-profit community organization such as American Cancer Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, etc., service with a non-profit religious institution, service on behalf of a candidate for public office, or service for a public non-profit school. The following are examples that would NOT count as community service:
Donating canned goods or items to gain community service hours, service for a private company or an individual, even if you personally were not paid, or rehearsal or practice time for participation in activities.Community service logs are available in the guidance office and on the Park Vista website. If you have any questions, come to the guidance office.
