Choice Programs

  • Grades K-5: Environmental Science and Field Research Choice Program

This program offers students the opportunity to become Young Environmental Stewards (YES!). Students will explore and evaluate challenges and concerns related to their environment: gopher tortoise preservation, ecosystem restoration, recycling, sustainable gardening providing healthy food options, aquatic life protection, and energy conservation. This hands-on, high-interest, experiential learning builds student awareness of their responsibility of protecting and caring for the environment.

Grades 6 & 7: Environmental Science and Technology Choice Program

Students in the Environmental Science and Technology program will use various technologies as educational tools to develop environmental science-based academic projects, presentations, learning activities, and assessments. Students will use technology to explore, evaluate, and communicate environmental issues regarding conservation, restoration, preservation, and sustainability by applying this knowledge through Gopher tortoise preservation, ecosystem restoration, recycling, sustainable gardening, aquatic life protection, and energy conservation. Eighth grade students may earn an Industry Certification in Technology. This Environmental Science and Technology program is offered as a continuation of the K-5 Environmental Science and Field Research program or for students interested in Environmental Science at the middle grades level.
