Reading Club

The students will read grades 3-5 SSYRA books and use strategies to prepare for the Battle of the Books competition in March.

SECME- is a club that stands for Science, Engineering, communication, math and enrichment. Students will use the engineering design-process to design, build and test various builds that will enrich their understanding of math and science concepts. They will then enrich their communication skills by writing technical reports and verbally answering questions about their design choices. The members of this club participate in a district-wide Olympiad to compete against other elementary schools in February.

Art club affords students additional time and opportunities to be creative and explore the joys of art. Students will work on different art pieces using different mediums. Students may also have opportunities to have their work showcased at different venues including the School District of Palm Beach County district offices.

Girls on the Run is a running club that helps girls build confidence in themselves. It empowers girls to find their inner star and fosters their leadership skills. The girls participate in a variety of team-building activities, personal reflections, group discussions, and, of course, running.

Dance is an excellent way for students to express their creativity and to work together to create art through movement. In the dance club, students in Grades 3-5 will work cooperatively with the teacher to create choreographed dances of various genres, including ballet, lyrical, salsa, creative movement, and hip hop. Students will learn cheerleading techniques, including cheers, chants, cheer dance, and step.

During chorus rehearsals we will work on posture, proper breathing, expressive singing, and other fundamentals that should be used while performing a varied repertoire of music. This will give selected students the ability to learn how to sing using proper vocal technique and sing with beautiful expression in a group. Students will have the opportunity of singing and performing many songs of different styles and cultures.

During band rehearsals we will work on posture, proper tone production, intonation (playing in tune), expressive playing, and other fundamentals that should be used while performing a varied repertoire of music. Learning a band instrument takes a lot of hard work, practice, and patience but is a very rewarding experience.

This year we are offering an after-school Sports Club for 3 rd , 4 th , and 5 th graders. Each week they will play a different sport (soccer, basketball, pickleball, floor hockey, and kickball). If your child is interested, please complete the bottom portion of this registration slip and return to the main office or to your child’s teacher. Space is limited to only 20 students! The club will meet each Thursday from 2:10 to 3:00. Students must be picked up promptly at 3:00. Participating in this club is based on your child’s academic and behavioral performance. Your child will be notified if he/she has been added to the sports club.
