Physical Education
Welcome to Physical Education (PE)
Each class is provided with 30 minutes of Physical Education each week. Our goal is to introduce and apply movement concepts, and practice fine and gross motor skills in conjunction with the Sunshine State Standards and Benchmarks. Some of the activities we include in our program are basketball, volleyball, soccer, parachute, relay races and fitness. All our students participate in “Jump Rope For Heart” as well as a fun-filled Field Day each spring.Art Class
Welcome to Art - Ms. B. Puente
The art department is committed to providing a quality experience for each student. The curriculum is extensive and the projects are varied. Completed student work is displayed in the halls, for viewing. In addition to class projects, the students are challenged to submit work for competitions during the school year. Young artists participate in the K-12 show, Arti Gra, Sunfest, South County Fair, campaign posters against drugs and tobacco, along with many other varied art entries. Second through fifth grade students are invited to join an art club that meets monthly throughout the school year. An artist's portfolio class helps fifth grade artists prepare for the Middle School of Arts's auditions.Dual Language
Welcome to Dual Language
Dual Language is an enriched K-5 educational model that integrates English speakers with native Spanish speakers. The purpose of the Dual Language program is to promote high levels of academic achievement, first and second language development, cross cultural understanding, as well as higher levels of self esteem for all students. Teachers work in pairs to deliver instruction in both Spanish and English. Content subjects are taught in both languages to develop students' language abilities. Students will be able to speak, understand, read and write in English and Spanish when they reach fifth grade. The Dual Language program will be most successful with the support of the family and school community. A commitment to ensure your child's continuous enrollment throughout the duration of the program is essential. Parents can support this program by attending meetings and parent teacher conferences.
