Principal's Message

Dear Parents,
Education is the ultimate vehicle that opens opportunities for all, and at Bear Lakes Middle School, we understand our responsibility to our students, parents, community and nation. We stand and embrace our district’s strategic plan and vision to create “a dynamic, collaborative, multicultural community where education and lifelong learning are valued and supported, and all learners reach their highest potential and succeed in the global economy.”
We recognize the importance of meeting each individual students’ academic needs by creating an educational and social pathway of lifelong learning and growth. Our dedicated staff has continued to create a curriculum that challenges all of our students and creates opportunities that will positively impact their lives. Our school offers numerous high school credit courses, such as; Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 and many more. All of these courses are part of our High School Acceleration Program and we continue to operate on the premise that all children have the ability, with the proper support and guidance, to participate in our acceleration program.
Finally, fifty percent of our eighth graders matriculating to high school have one or more high school credit courses and according to the state, for last year’s FSA, we ranked #1 in Palm Beach County in middle schools for Learning Gains in English/Language Arts and 7th out of 565 schools in the state of Florida for English/Language Arts Learning Gains. Bear Lakes Middle School also ranked in the top 15% for Learning Gains in Math among all middle schools in the state of Florida.
As Principal of Bear Lakes Middle School, I aspire to create a school-wide culture that empowers educators to become teacher leaders, celebrate students’ success as they become academically proficient, college-ready, productive members of society; and engages parents and the community to take an active role in the education of all students.
Yours in Education,
Kirk Howell, Ed.D
