During the 2016-2017 school year, Bear Lakes saw a 10 percent increase in our student’s proficiency level on the English Language Arts FSA. We increased by more than 10 percent learning gains of all students, as well as a significant increase in the learning gains for the lowest 25% of students. Because of this, we were recognized for having the highest English Language Arts Learning Gains of all middle schools in Palm Beach County during the 2016-2017 school year. We were also recognized by Governor Rick Scott and the state of Florida for being ranked number seven out of 565 middle schools in the state of Florida for our improvement in English Language Arts Achievement during the 2016-2017 school year.

At Bear Lakes we believe in meeting students where they are and helping them to create goals to move to the next level. We believe that all students can and will achieve academic success and guide them on their paths to doing so. Many students are given the opportunity to take advanced English and Reading courses during the school year.

We will continue to strive for excellence in student achievements and use the necessary tools and strategies to challenge the students and enrich their lessons within the Language Arts and Reading departments, as well as in other academic classes
