Welcome to the ESOL Department. The ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Department supports English Language Learners (ELLs) or students whose native language is not English. The purpose of the ESOL program is for ELLs to acquire the English language so that they become college and career ready. ELLs represent a diverse section of the school population, bringing one or more world languages to the school setting and coming to us from different countries and cultures. The ESOL program is dedicated to providing rigorous academic instruction, offering social and emotional development, supporting community involvement, and giving quality services to ELLs, their families, and Lake Shore Middle School.
