  • CELL PHONES/ HEADPHONES

    Cell phones should not be seen or heard during instructional time unless directed by the teacher for educational use.
    If your phone becomes a disruption during class time, the device will be confiscated and turned into Student Services for parent/guardian pick-up.
    Taking photos and/or videos in classrooms without permission is not permitted.
    Only one (1) earbud should be worn at any given time so announcements/staff instructions can be heard to ensure safety.

    CONSEQUENCES
    Refusal to give your cell phone to a staff member will result in a disciplinary referral.
    Refusal to remove earbud/headphones will result in a disciplinary referral.
    Unattended backpacks/ purses are easy targets for potential theft on campus. Secure valuables in locked lockers when items are not in your possession.

  • ZERO TOLERANCE

    In complying with Florida law, the Palm Beach County School  Board defines zero tolerance to mean that certain kinds of misconduct will always lead to a disciplinary consequence.

    MANDATORY PENALTIES:

    Possession/use/storage of tobacco products (2 days OSS minimum)
    Possession/use/storage of alcohol products (5 days OSS minimum)
    Possession/use/storage of drugs, drug paraphernalia or prescription medications (5 days OSS minimum and referral to Law Enforcement Officer (LEO))
    Sale, Intent to Sell, or Distribution of Drugs, Imitation Drugs Represented as Drugs, or Prescription Medications (10 days OSS minimum and referral to LEO)
    Bringing/possessing a firearm or weapon to school, to any school function, or onto any school-sponsored transportation. (Expulsion and referral to LEO)
    Making a threat or false report, involving school or school personnel's property, school transportation, or a school-sponsored activity. (Expulsion and referral to LEO)

  • TARDIES and ATTENDANCE

    Students are tardy if they are outside of the classroom door when the bell stops ringing and are considered absent if not in class at least 25 minutes per class period.

    TARDY CONSEQUENCES

    Tardies #1-4 result in a warning recorded in the student conductor system.
    Every 5th tardy, beginning with the 5th, will result in a lunch detention.
    It is the STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY to know the date of their assigned detention by reading their tardy pass each time one is received. You must be present in the lunch detention area before the tardy bell rings.

    ATTENDANCE

    Lack of consistent attendance negatively impacts the learning process.
    Make-up work is assigned to cover what was missed but will never have the same impact as the full and original lesson or discussion.
    Excessive tardies in which a student refuses to take corrective action will result in a disciplinary referral, parent conference and/or loss of school privileges such as parking and participation in athletics and/or special events.

  • DRESS CODE

    All students are expected to adhere to the school’s dress code at all times. Dress code violations will result In a lunch detention and immediate change into appropriate clothing. All students must have a visible student ID.

    PROHIBITED ITEMS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

    Skirts, shorts or any other bottom that is shorter more than four (4) inches above the knee.
    Pants worn below the hipline, or that are excessively saggy, have excessive holes/tears or are torn more than 4 inches above the knee.
    Shirts and blouses that do not reach the waistline, have straps less than three (3) inches in width or have plunging/ low cut necklines or are translucent.
    Halter, tube tops and off-the-shoulder shirts.
    Hats, bandanas or hoods (exceptions- medical or religious reasons or are being worn outside for sun protection.)
    Attire with language or images that are crude, vulgar, profane, lewd/obscene, promotes gang affiliation, illegal substances or could cause injury to others.
