Commingled (Plastic/Aluminum/Glass)
- Commingled recycling is also known as recycling for plastic, aluminum, and glass. These items are placed in large, 95-gallon, blue recycling bins called toters. The school district provides and pays for commingled recycling service.
- Items that can be recycled in the blue toters include aluminum cans, drink boxes, milk and juice cartons, plastic bottles and containers, steel cans, and glass jars. Items that cannot be recycled include plastic bags, paper towels, Styrofoam lunch trays, straws, plastic utensils, food, and liquids.

Clothing and Shoes
- Clothing & shoes can be recovered for reuse or recycling with a community resource partner, Charity Recycling Service. Schools receive 10 cents for every pound of clothing, shoes, blankets, towels, or other textiles they collect. The textiles that are collected will be made into something new, so ripped and stained items are acceptable.
- To begin collecting textiles for recycling, please contact the vendor. Once registered, your school will be set up with a free smart bin! These smart bins contain sensors to let the vendor know when your school needs a pickup.
- To sign up for a bin and to get started, email charityrecyclingservice.com or call 561-232-2330.

Electronic Waste
- Electronic waste, or “E-waste”, is generated on every school campus and facility. “E-waste” includes many types of electronic devices, as well as the many accessories associated with those devices. Most electronic equipment contains hazardous materials (e.g., heavy metals, fire retardants) which are harmful to human health and the environment if not disposed of properly.
- For guidance on the proper procedures for managing E-waste in the District, visit Electronic Waste Recycling.
