Camille Long, Ed.D.
North Regional Superintendent
The School District of Palm Beach CountyDr. Camille Long's journey is deeply rooted in the Palm Beach County public school system. She is a proud alumna of West Riviera Elementary, Palm Beach Gardens Elementary, and John F. Kennedy Middle, culminating her high school educational journey at Palm Beach Gardens (Class of 1989).
Dr. Long has worked in the Central, North, and Glades regions. Her leadership career took off as the Assistant Principal and Principal of Northboro Elementary School in West Palm Beach. Her next venture was the establishment of a new middle school, L.C. Swain, in Greenacres, Florida. The school's remarkable journey, earning a letter grade of "B" in its first year and implementing the first Asperger's program in our District, is a testament to her visionary leadership.
After serving as Principal of L.C. Swain Middle School, she was asked to serve as Principal of Glades Central High School, where the graduation rate increased by 18% during her tenure. Following her time at Glades Central, she was tasked with leading Turnaround Schools as West Area Director, reporting to the West Area Superintendent. Her turnaround experience at Northboro Elementary, L.C. Swain Middle, Glades Central High, and the West Area was preparation for her current role.
Dr. Long currently serves as the North Regional Superintendent, supervising 47 schools. Her long-range goals include establishing an academic structure that will allow schools to flourish academically while providing the community with a hub for residents, students, and their families to connect with resources and support services.
Dr. Long has two adult children, Johnnie and Miles II. She has one grandchild, Jakobe Miles Coleman. The opportunity to serve the community is essential to her and a part of her family's work and upbringing. Her mother, Dr. Doretha Long, was an educator who worked as a Speech Pathologist and Administrator for Palm Beach County Schools. Her father, Douglas Long, was a Counselor, Assistant Principal, and Principal for Palm Beach County Schools.
