Transition to Kindergarten
-
We recognize that parents are their child’s first teacher and it is our hope to collaborate with each family, offering resources to support your child’s journey to kindergarten.
The transition to kindergarten is a year-long journey, not just a one-time event. Starting kindergarten is a major milestone for children and their families. For children the transition means adjusting to a new environment, new rules, new schedule, new friends, and rigorous academic expectations.
A successful transition to kindergarten leads to less student stress and higher academic achievement. A successful transition to Kindergarten is seen as a key component of school readiness. (Pianta & Kraft-Sayre, 2003)
